If a car weighs 1300 pounds and the engine puts out 180 horsepower, a quick calculation indicates it should equal one helluva lot of fun! The MEV Rocket is an exoskeleton kit car, similar in concept to the Ariel Atom, where the frame is out in the open, there’s minimal bodywork and the engine is mounted in the rear. It was designed around the four cylinder engine from a Ford Focus which comes in several flavors, this one is from a 2002 Ford Focus SVT with double overhead cams and variable valve timing.

Accommodations for the driver and passenger are sparse, but you have everything you need, including a 5 point harness to keep you in place when you decide to get a little spunky.

The Rocket is no longer being produced, but this one is very low mileage and the seller, who was also the builder, says he’s built many cars and is meticulous in the process. The photos seem to back that up, they look good. If you like high G turns and really quick steering, you might want to check this out. It’s for sale on eBay.
