When ordinary just won't do

Another 1989 Honda GB500 in Astonishing Condition

No matter how close you look, there doesn't seem to be any visual flaws

After a while, you begin to wonder where all of these GB500s have been hiding. With only 3400 miles and no blemishes you can see in the photos, this one looks like it just arrived from 1989.

The chrome is perfect, the forks have no oxidation, a common ailment of the GB500, it's about as clean as you will find

The bike has been ridden, at least a little, but somehow, in those miles, no chips or scrapes or rubs appeared. There aren’t even any scratches around the ignition where a key might have dragged or bumped the metal.

Low miles, but look closely around the ignition. There are no scratches or rubs of any kind.

Someday we’ll find the wormhole where time travelers are returning to an earlier year to snatch these pristine examples of vintage motorcycles and bring them up to the present, but until we do, we’ll just have to look at bikes like this and accept them for what they are, perfectly clean used bikes with nary a scratch.

To think I got mine for $1800 but then I added 50,000 miles to it. Now it sits in the garage. Not much of a time capsule.

There is one in a glass case in a restaurant near me. Can’t remember how many miles it has, similar or less.
