Say the name Lamborghini and what comes to mind? For the vast majority, it’s exotic Italian sports cars, but Ferruccio Lamborghini was making tractors before he ever made a car and this 1965 Lamborghini 5C Crawler tractor is a great example of the breed.

Powered by a 3 cylinder diesel engine, it looks like it would have been every bit the capable agricultural workhorse it was meant to be. This example was fully restored just a few years ago and according to the seller, everything works just like it should.

The blue and orange paint gives it that distinctive Gulf Racing appearance, though this may have been a factory color scheme in its day, and if so, Lamborghini was ahead of the more recent connection those colors have to Gulf. I think it looks great, in fact, I think the whole machine shows being utilitarian doesn’t mean it has to be bland. This has an aesthetically pleasing appearance to go with its muscular and functional heritage.

Though the average Lamborghini owner (did I just say average Lamborghini owner?), may not have an interest in tractors, some might see the appeal of adding a machine like this to their stable of vehicles.

Wow, that is a great looking tractor. I hope that is a factory paint scheme, it really looks good.

The problem with something like this is you would hate to get it dirty, though Kettenkrad owners don’t seem to have a problem mucking about when they restore their machines. Driving this to your local cruise night might be an issue, too, those tracks don’t look very asphalt friendly, but we have some big country fairs around here and this would fit right in.

    Cooler than the Porsche tractor.

It was just a little while after coming across this Lamborghini that I came across Porsche tractors for the first time. I never followed tractor manufacturers, and although I’ve encountered quite a few obscure US companies, European tractor builders are out of my scope. The Porsche models have a distinctive look, too. It’s a lot like US vs European locomotives, the appearance is definitely different.
